Midnight Murder Club Is Headed To PS5, Cross-Play Demo Releasing Today

Midnight Murder Club developer Velan Studios has revealed a new trailer during The Game Awards for the upcoming multiplayer first-person shooter, and has confirmed that it'll be launching in early access on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam in early 2025. Anyone looking to try the game out can also download a new cross-play demo launching today on PS5 and PC.

Midnight Murder Club puts an interesting spin on competitive FPS action, as each match takes place inside of a pitch-black mansion. All the lights are off save for a flashlight you equip or a brief muzzle-flash from a gun being fired, so you'll have to operate tactically so that you can use the darkness to your advantage.

As a consequence of this direction, sound plays a key role in helping you locate enemies. Velan Studios says that the game has detailed positional audio paired with a clever use of proximity chat. For example, if a teammate communicates to you in a hall close to you, then their voice will echo realistically into the surrounding rooms. Vending machines scattered throughout the mansion will also give you access to gear, like special pills that'll let you see in the dark for a brief time, decoys to fool other players, and deadly weapons.

There will also be DualSense-specific controller features on both PS5 and PC to make Midnight Murder Club feel more immersive, with one example being the use of the adaptive triggers to give weight to every click of your flashlight. In the cross-play demo, you can try out out two game modes: Free-for-All pits six players against each other to see who can rack up the most kills, and Thief in the Night is a treasure hunt between two teams, as each squad will race to find valuable skulls and deposit them into a vault before time runs out.

This demo will be be live through December 22.
